If you want to scare yourself read William Forstchen’s One Second After. I sleep a little bit better since Trump has reigned Rocket Man in somewhat. I believe EMP is a more credible threat than the nuclear exchange we’ve all feared since the 50s.

” I believe EMP is a more credible threat than the nuclear exchange we’ve all feared since the 50s.”

An all out nuclear war would probably doom the planet to years long nuclear winter but any nation with an icbm and tactical nuke could destroy us or any other country with one or two EMPs. To me that makes Iran and N. Korea more dangerous than Russia or China.

An EMP attack would simply be the beginning of a nuclear exchange.

A solar EMP event concerns me the most.

I read that book. The premise was interesting (a better book, IMHO, is “Alas Babylon,” which was written in, I think, the 1950s or early 1960s); however, Forstchen’s habit of having his characters break into uncontrolled weeping over singing old show tunes and other such maudlin swill ruined the story for me.

Use of an EMP weapon will trigger a full on nuclear war ... unless a Democrat is President, then we will just absorb it and apologize.

Nothing personal but that book was an exercise fear mongering with no real basis in science at all

Thanks, I did. And I just picked up One Year After, and The Final Day. The 2nd and 3rd books of the trilogy for this weekend.

The yucksters on this thread would do well to do the same.

hardspunned:" I believe EMP is a more credible threat than the nuclear exchange we’ve all feared since the 50s."

And so do I believe that an undetectable EMP (source unknown)is a likely scenario,
rather than 'mutually agreed destruction' scenario.
That is why we need to be prepared spiritually, physically, and emotionally.
"If ye are prepared,.. ye shall not fear. "

H/P to TADSLOS !
