The kid can’t do anything about his name except feel uncomfortable. You really want to make fun of a 5 year old child’s name in front of him? That would lead to self-esteme issues and the like. You really want to go there as a adult?

What if the brain-dead mother decided that her little girl should really be a boy and paraded her around as a boy? Would you say “oh, well you can’t refer to her as a girl, because, after all, it’s not HER fault she’s wearing boy’s clothes”?
It’s her idiot mother’s fault that she’s going to go through life being mocked for her name - not mine for mocking her, nor am I going to change my view of right / wrong or NOT react the way any sane person SHOULD react because of this mother’s stupid behavior. She gave her kid that name - let them both live with the consequences of it.
Pravious, this is not your situation to fix.
The parents are obviously beyond help.
Report them to child protective services if you’re that worked up over it.
All you’re going to do is hurt a little kid’s feelings, and listen to the mother berate you non-stop for going where you had absolutely no business going.
Your job is to take a ticket, not fix other people’s life problems.
