When Christ came to earth as our savior almost every culture on the planet practiced some form of infanticide on a large scale. Yet to this fallen world He still sent is son to suffer and die to redeem those that would believe in him.
And even since then humans have not stopped doing atrocities. I hardly think THIS will be the point were God suddenly says ‘to heck with all of them’. That is a stupid suggestion. Asif an omniscient God did not know exactly when humans would do this. As he just woke up one morning, saw it in the paper and said, “That is it! The last straw!”

Of course God would know this would happen. And that is why it will usher the end of humans running things on this planet. This is humans challenging the preserve of God and attempting to become God. Many have sought to be, and claimed to be God throughout history. Gene editing is the newest, and most substantial activity in the whole of human history that challenges the domain of God’s fundamental prerogatives. He knows this. He knew it would be so. He knows that it will be wrapped up in good intentions , as most profoundly evil endeavours are, and He knows it is a challenge to His sovereignty of this planet. He won’t tolerate it for long. Long enough to expose the folly and remove the cloak of intent. There is a sinister being driving this research. A being obsessed with being worshipped and supplanting God’ s sovereignty.
