WATCH: Elderly Vikings Fan Puts Youthful Packers Fan in Chokehold

You will respect your elders at Vikings games, and if you don’t, your elders will put you in a chokehold. Especially if that elder happens to be a Vikings fan and the younger happens to be a Packers fan. Proof of this truism came on Sunday Night Football as a significantly older Vikings fan attempted to put a slow-motion sleeper hold on a young Packers fan, who was apparently being too boisterous.

Beginning with Bud Grant and "The Purple People Eaters" of the early 70's, I will own up to being a longstanding rabid Vikings fan.

However, nearly 50 seasons of heartache created by some of the most innovative ways of losing big games eventually cured me of that.

My only consolation was "well, at least you're not a Lions fan."

I saw parts of a game 3 or 4 years ago. Can’t remember the teams.
The team on offense was behind by 3, 3rd and2 with 2 minutes on the clock.
They tried a pass on 3rd down and QB was sacked for a 2 yard loss.
Two defensive players were about 15 yards behind the line of scrimmage celebrating.
The QB hustled the offense to the line and got the ball snapped before the defensive players stopped celebrating.
Offsides, 5 yard penalty-enough for a first down.
The offense ended up scoring a td with something like 5 seconds on the clock. Game winner.
If the defense hadn’t celebrated and been offsides they may have won the game.

When the celebration craze started up Barry Sims would just hand the ball to the official. He had an “I’ve scored before and I’ll score again” attitude.
I liked that.

If you go to a game like like that, you gotta expect lots of yelling. If that bothers you, either wear earplugs, or stay the **** home.

And most of all, don’t involve yourself in a criminal assault.
