Eh. I don’t see the harm in it. I would rather see this kind of thing than young people dressing in ghetto gear, or spandex with hooves on their hands and a unicorn horn on their heads...

Modern recreations of tintype photos are too clean to not be noticed as modern.

At least they like to be thoughtful about what they wear...wearable themed art..creative stuff....certainly beats people bragging about what brand they are wearing...

Very tasteful. I wish more people of box sexes would make an effort to look tidy and dignified.

Someone should knock some reality into these punks

I thought the outfits were really neat, most “punks” looked 60+ why do you want to hurt/punish them? As a kid I was fascinated in that stuff - I think because of the Jules Verne books.

When I was young, we would buy fancy 1940’s zoot suits from the second hand store for next to nothing and go dancing at the Roxy

Some of them seem to have skipped the “punk” part and just gone Victorian, which is very appropriate to the weather in Yorkshire in November! I wish I could put on a lot more and heavier clothes today, myself!

What does this reality have to offer?

Exactly.

Beats me. What does dressing up like a cowboy and going to a bar have to offer?

There is also a growing interest among young people who go watch silent films and dress in the period attire of the times.

Terrific fashions in that era right up into the 40’s.

These are people engaging in a harmless hobby, that takes some real skill and talent to put together these outfits. Many of those outfits are stunning to look at, and pay homage (albeit with a little fantasy tossed-in) to a past era.

Thank you!
I participate in reenactments, from a love of history plus love for beautiful clothes. People my age usually dress shabby; some look like they crawled out of a grave. Give me a tight-waisted Victorian gown with a bustle and a bonnet. A slinky 1930's dress or a tailored Edwardian or an equestrian ensemble or a 1940's romper. I've got a great collection of vintage clothing, built over the past ten years, and my only regret is that there aren't enough places to go in them.

I loved steampunk before it was a word. Films The Time [Machine and First Men In The Moon (seen as a kid in the early 60’s), and the Wild Wild West TV series later on are perfect steampunk design.

I’ve read the Magnificent Devices novels of Shelly Adina and more from other authors. I’ll confess to having a lady’s steampunk hat and other items, and am thinking of a costume.]

Another is the Sci-Fi film “The Mutant Chronicles”
