Swedish Bishop is looking forward to Muslim call to prayer
SWEDEN -- The Växjö Muslim Foundation has submitted an application for a call to prayer once a week from the mosque in the immigrant district of Araby, Växjö.
While the plans have upset some, they are welcomed by Fredrik Modéus, the Bishop of Växjö.
- I welcome the application and look forward to hearing both church bells and calls to prayer in our city, he writes in a statement on Twitter.
"It is natural in a multicultural and multi-religious society that different traditions and religions are heard, are visible and are interacting for a good society," he continues on Facebook, emphasizing that it is a fundamental democratic right to exercise faith.
Modéus then refers to Växjö Municipality's future image, which reads: "In Växjö Municipality we meet people with different faiths respectfully."
- I therefore welcome the application for call to prayer, he says.
But on Facebook, many are critical.
"Feels good to have left the church in 1982, so that I did not not have to support these fools financially," writes a person.
"Maybe the next step will be that the Church of Sweden adapts to Sharia laws as well? That the flight from the radicalized Church of Sweden is large can hardly be surprising!" writes another.
Meanwhile, a new report made by the church itself shows that the Swedish Church will lose well over one million members within a ten-year period, writes SVT. Now there are suggestions that the church must begin to sell its properties not to go broke.
And we already know who the buyers will be.
How it is possible in 2018 for Christians to ignore what is happening to Christianity, Christians and churches in many Muslim countries, simply continues to baffle me.
I wonder if he is looking forward to the smell of brimstone?

None so blind as those who will not see. Has he ever been to the Middle East and seen Christianity afforded the same respect and privileges? There’s a whole bunch of people in the world who should never sit in a position of power!
