I believe these are mostly trauma surgeons and emergency room physicians. The undoubtedly get the bulk of the Black-on-Black shootings and stray bullet crap, among other massacres. So I can’t blame them, even though I think they’re pointing their fingers in the wrong direction.
But such people work in the areas that have the kind of laws they are agitating for.

As I write this, my neighbor who is an emergency room nurse, is deer hunting on her dad’s farm which adjoins ours.
I think she has shot two deer already this year.
