Gavin McInnes, the founder of self-described “Western chauvinist” organization the Proud Boys, announced today that he was officially leaving the controversial group. In a YouTube video he recorded on November 21, McInnes said, “As of today, November 21, 2018, I am officially disassociating myself from the Proud Boys, ---SNIP--- McInnes said the group is “not a gang” and stressed that the Proud Boys is a “multi-racial” group; he put several pictures of Proud Boys who are either minorities themselves or are married to minorities. McInnes also slammed what he called “lazy journalists” for describing the Proud Boys as white supremacists — something which, he said, had led to Proud Boys members being fired from their jobs and otherwise persecuted

According to wiki they are considered an extremist group. He was a founder of Vice (before selling it). Does that mean his publication was a hate tract? Or do his critics alledge that he was radicalized?

I was told to use the term “stepping down” but I refused because that makes no sense. I was never the leader, only the founder. Although, the media will likely say, “Gavin McInnes Steps Down as Leader of Extremist Hate Group Proud Boys” because that’s how they roll. I do this reluctantly because I see it as a the greatest fraternal organization in the world but rumors and lies and bad journalism has made it’s way to the court system and the NYC9 (the Proud Boys arrested after I did a talk here in NY) are facing serious charges. I’m told by my legal team and law enforcement that this gesture could help alleviate their sentencing. Fine. At the very least, this will show jurors they are not dealing with a gang and there is no head of operations. We are not an extremist group and we do not have ties with white nationalists. Gavin's statement is perfect. He makes it very clear he and the proud boys are against racism, bigotry and homophobia.
They are simply a logical extension of the Trump phenomenon that surged in 2016.
Americans (I would say of all stripes, but a true American doesn't differentiate) who are sick and tired of watching the country that our ancestors fought for be belittled by the people who hold the reigns of power and authority and are sick of it!
They are PROUD to be Americans and are effective that is why the deep state authority is suppressing them.
