Yum, they sound delicious.
I have about 20 to 30 squash in the basement that I grew. Wish I could get them to you because I can’t do much with them with my arms. Even with good arms I feel like I am risking fingers trying to cut them in half!
I’ve read about a method of just roasting them in the oven whole. And then you can peel the skin off easy, cut them in half, and scoop out the seeds. Sounds much safer.

And ‘Hey!” to you too neighbor.
Yeah, went to Kingsport for a big load of supplies to fix up this place when I moved here. I thought the cashier had made a mistake when I got the bill LOL! that was the only time I made a big purchase in 9.9% sales tax Tennessee!
Some great Freepers here from E Tenn.
A home is a better investment there IMO, but I think we get the better weather.
Well, thanks for the conversation.
One last thing. When I moved here there were 3-4 coal trains a day going by. Under Obama that dropped to only 3 or 4 a week. Back up to ahout 3 a day now. Coal jobs support whole extended families up here. We really appreciate Trump.

I take the younger grandkids to the river park to feed birds and ducks. Sometimes the river rats, not really rats, but nutria, ( just as ugly) show up. They are so ugly, but we feed them too. The kids love it.

I bought 2 squash this fall. Then remembered how hard it is to cut them. I made them both at once and froze the extra in ziplocks.
Maybe you could donate those extras to a food pantry?
Or get someone to prepare a few with you and freeze the good stuff.
The scraping out of the seeds isnt so fun either.
I am getting so lazy! Ha ha.
To: Rusty0604
Never heard of those rats. Yeah I figure any animal that’s hungry I feed. Except I don’t want this possum attacking my cats or dog, so he’ll just have to figure out how to make it without cat food. If he doesn’t stay off the deck you’ll have to relocate him and then I’ll worry about him being able to find food and shelter in the winter in a new spot.
How wonderful to have a river with birds and ducks for grandkids. Those are some great memories you are making.

Squash is a lot of work! You are right, sweet potatoes are easier. But squash is easier to grow i think.
But they will last probably until April in my basement. That’s what they did last year. So I’m not willing to give them up yet! My arms better be better by then. Or I’m complaining to somebody!

☺ A lot of people here don't know there is a pet cemetery. My daughter, when I told her, said she hopes he doesn't come back and try to kill us, LOL (Steven King movie).

Might I ask what happened to your poor armies? I missed posts about it.

When my granddaughter, now 17, was just a toddler, the family lived with me for awhile when my SIL was finishing aero mechanics school in Oakland airport. My daughter had to go to work very early, so I got my granddaughter ready and took her to daycare on my way to work.
One morning, I had given her a banana muffin to eat. We were walking towards my car, and she still had it. I asked her, she said she didn’t want anymore, so I said I was going to give it to the birds, and threw it in the hill.
That night, my daughter wS feeding her, and told me it was so strange, because when she tried to get her to eat the green beans, my granddaughter told her to give it to the birds. ROLF

I need some help thinking outside the box. My cat Sammy will not stop eating on our plastic tree. He continually throws up if he's anywhere near the tree. He can not be trusted and we don't want to close the door to our tree area. I'll post a picture of the tree and area along with our unusual ceiling I had built on the cat porch for unusual situations...and this is one.
NIKK...The tree comes apart in 3 areas....I need to hang the tree someway from the rafter right side up. Not necessarily with the tree stand...it can and should be removed. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I need to work with what I already have but I need a doable idea.

Crock Pot Christmas Crack
Cook time: 1 Hr 30 Min Prep time: 15 Min Serves: a LOT
Ingredients
1 jar(s) unsalted peanuts, 16 oz
1 jar(s) salted peanuts, 16 oz.
1 bag(s) semi-sweet chocolate chips, 12 oz
1 bag(s) milk chocolate chips, 12 oz
2 bag(s) peanut butter chips, 10 oz each
2 pkg white almond bark or vanilla candy coating, 1 lb each
*************
Directions
 1. Layer all ingredients in a large Crock Pot (starting with peanuts).
 2. Break apart the bark into chunks and place into the Crock Pot as the last layer.
 3. Turn the pot on low, cover with lid, and leave sitting for 1 hour.
 4. Then, remove the lid and stir to combine.
 5. Replace lid and leave sitting for another 30 minutes keeping an eye to make sure it doesn't burn.
 6. Stir again. Then spoon mixture onto wax paper or non-stick aluminum foil.
 7. Allow candy to harden for at least 1 hour. Enjoy!
Now he only put 1 bag of peanut butter chips and only one pound of vanilla candy coating and no almond bark.
POST is sweetiepiezer's.

He was at the vets this summer because he's extremely nervous and he had a large hair ball they had to watch for a couple of days. He was an outside guy and we have had him in with us. We know nothing about him before he showed up here. Our vet says we have to make sure he doesn't stress out because he could die.

I am extremely happy and proud of the job being done by @USTreasury Secretary @StevenMnuchin1. The FAKE NEWS likes to write stories to the contrary, quoting phony sources or jealous people, but they arent true. They never like to ask me for a quote b/c it would kill their story.

Prayers for the little fella.

Thank you NIKK.

Today I made my trip to Great Mall - Milpitas. Whole place was jam packed. Long queues to enter any store.
Tommy HF store was closed for poor. Seems like some Chinese Billionaire/Millionaire was doing shopping inside , and kept store close for others. Majority of stuff was overprices and then on discount. No deep discount. Retailers are pretty optimistic. Inside Coach store, one Indian couple bought 2-3 dozens purses, average price $300+. One Chinese woman bought whole shelf. I was shocked to see purchasing power of some.
I walked 10K today inside Mall.

This is real progress...
North Korea exploded 10 of its own military guard posts on the demilitarized zone (DMZ) bordering South Korea as part of the peace process between the two countries. The two Koreas are also being reconnected by a road across the border for the first time in 14 years.
The South Korean Defense Ministry announced the demolition on social media and released accompanying photos and footage.
The two Koreas began destroying 22 posts along their heavily-fortified frontier under a plan to reduce tensions on the border. There are a total of 220 guard posts along the DMZ160 of which are operated by North Korea, and 60 which are operated by South Korea. Both Koreas later agreed to preserve one post on each side, out of the 22 posts, for historic value.
