Worst Basketball Cheap Shot Ever Seen..? Wow..

Division 3 College basketball, Massachusetts, Fitchburg State vs. Nichols College:

Fitchburg State - Kewan Platt, perp
Nichols College - Nate Tenaglia, victim

Defender Kewan Platt trotting up to Nichols College Nate Tenaglia, then attempting a 3-pointer:

Defender does quick head check to the ref, the better to make sure his action goes unseen.

Defender throws a quick, sharp elbow to the face, man collapses to the floor.

My understanding is the defender has been indefinately suspended and barred from campus.

The brief twitter vid of the incident is pretty impressive, I've only seen one hockey cheap shot meaner than this one.

You sound bitter!

I lived in Boston most of my life. It was nice to see the home team (no matter what sport) win most of the time. Though the Patriots had some really bad years for a while before they too got consistently good.

But I always put it in perspective. Very few of those players actually came from Boston so I never really saw them as representing me personally. I never got into the whole "sports team from my area is better than the sports team from your area" kind of thing.

I went to school in CT, and then did a ton of business in Boston for a decade. You definitely needed a contract. Favorite place to do business was NYC.

That’s just the knockout game being played on a basketball court instead of the street.

Sorry, apparently some YouTube restriction due to violence or some such. There are other videos around of the Laimbeer-Bird fight.

Washington broke Tomjanovich’s face with that one.
His “defense” was that he heard footsteps coming up behind him, and since he was “from the hood”, his first and only natural, self-preservational reaction was to turn and punch the first human he saw.
