This looks like a pretty tame eccentricity to me.
Oh man, that headline made me laugh harder than I have in a long time. It was one of those classic, “Can’t wait to see where this thread goes” moments.
When I see one in my back yard, I feed it .177 lead pellets delivered around 1,020 feet per second. For some reason, those little critters seem to prefer other food and don’t come around much anymore.
The squirrely prince is nuts.
Charles is on weird cookie....squirrels aren’t his only interests he’s got a slew of weird passions.
The Western red squirrels we have around here are native. The Eastern gray squirrels are invasive. The Gray squirrels are far more docile and they will take nuts out of your hand. The red squirrels are half the size, but twice as fast and aggressive and will chatter at you any time you enter what they consider to be their domain. I had the garage door open the other day. A red squirrel ran in and it took awhile to chase him out. He ran directly into the open door of our airplane hangar.
He also talks to trees.

There are squirrels and chipmunks in my yard but I cannot imagine letting them in. They’re loaded with fleas, clearly visible because they come right up to the window to see what I’m doing.

In the picture of the two of them, Harry has his right hand making a ‘devil’ gesture. When called to account, his handlers said he was just pulling up his pants. Funny, as his hand in outside his jacket. I did have respect for him for his service. But his antics in Las Vegas and his choice of a twice-divorced B-list actress have made me question his intelligence. And he has made many political statements that are derogatory of Conservatism. And please note that Meghan’s volunteering only started after a new friend on Suits offered to introduce her to Harry. No, I have no respect for her. She’s a phony.

I have a bumper crop of squirrels this year, the hickory trees way back in the east yard keeps then well fed. Prince Charles is more than welcome to cull the herd, but this old timer named Arthur will probably show up soon for a few days and fill his freezer.
I don’t eat them but they can be destructive to gardens, screens, lawn furniture cushions etc... that’s why Arthur comes around and plinks. He loves him some squirrel.
My Dad was a retired engineer, he kept a log book of the squirrels he shot...Date, Time, Weather conditions...
I put my nuts back in my briefs after they got tangled up with the car keys one too many times
Chuck probably has bats in his belfry too. Once Chuck becomes King I give the monarchy only five years before the Brits are clamouring to end it altogether. The only hope is for Chuck to abdicate and let William be king.

The red squirrel in the UK is a different species from the US red squirrel, JFTR.
There are lots of feral grey squirrels around Britain as well.
