This is the slow-burn version of The French Revolution. And, I think your take is spot-on. A couple of the declared socialist candidates who hadn’t even been elected yet were already saying that when they got there the old guard would need to step aside and hand over power to them. (I don’t know if any of these candidates made it other than Ocasio-Cortez. I suspect the old guard did as much as possible behind the scenes to make certain those candidates lost.)
The Democratic party brought this debacle down on itself. The rise of the Lunatic Left, which had been latent for a long time, was precipitated by Obama. Obama is like cocaine to the Left. He excites them beyond reason, but will ultimately prove fatal to the party.
Another poster channeled Roy Snyder, saying, “We’re going to need a bigger popcorn popper.”
I told my husband yesterday that the dems have a tiger by the tail. Ocasio-Cortez and some of the other newbies they have are not going to play by the old rules and attempts to make them will not set well with their supporters. It will be interesting to watch.
At the very least, there will be a lot more people like Ocasio-Cortez upsetting White Democrats in primaries.
