That HAS to be uncomfortable.
But the response is almost reflex in that you can’t help it. There is no steeling yourself like gas irritants or Tasers.

But if you stay in the ray stream, say if a crowd pushes you into it, and you are trapped, you could be expected to have some severe burns, though right?
In that event, would the damage still be non-lethal? I read in the clip’s closed caption that the training for those tasked with operating this equipment have huge numbers of hours (was it 80 or 800 hours?) of training. I would guess that they have means of reducing intensity for that scenario? That is if the goal is to operate non-lethally.... and I have no concerns that they are not seeking that.
Just wondered. It still is a marvelous thing to seek to minimize lethal damage and still accomplish the mission.
With a vehicle? Everyone within the designated areas gets it. A Phalanx would break. Leonidas and his 300 would have fled. It is an irresistible problem.
I've never been a big non-lethal proponent for the military users. If you see them, you should know the only outcome.
