Yeah overall I strongly agree about grunge.

It was depressing, nihilistic, narcissistic and self pitying.

I’ll likely still listen to GnR as “Think About you” “Night Train” and “One in a Million” are three of my favorite songs.

Among a slew of others by them.

I’ll just never put more money towards them and wouldn’t pay to see them play teen angst music in the 50s anyway.

Woah, that club fire was from Great White, not Whitesnake, right? Geez there are a lot of White bands. White Lion too. The coolest one was White Zombie, then Whitesnake. Great White and Wight Lion seemed like glam garbage to me.

And for an album that took about 15 years to make, “Chinese Democracy” was AWFUL.

The original line up, as almost is always the case, is the best.

True...not cutting down/clearing the undergrowth, encourages these fires to spread.

I think you mean ‘absolute DEARTH’of any good music vs dirge.
I agree with you for the most part, though.
For the same reasons, I’ve begun to explore both baroque classical and American Gospel music. So much of what later became rock and roll was inspired by Gospel rhythms and beat patterns.

I remember the Offspring announcing they were going to call their next album ‘Chinese Democracy’ in the early 2000s...They said ‘Hey, you snooze you lose.’ I think at the time The GNR/Axl version had been in the works for years and years. Pretty funny.

I only ever liked a few of the Beatles early stuff; the druggie/lefty/stupid crap was and still is awful!

Yes, you DID make the correct choice for your B Day present! :-)

Sure. And AIDS was caused by lack of federal funding, too. /s

They could have tripled the funding, but the mismanagement would have remained. Most extra funds would normally go to pensions, anyhow.

Motley is my favorite. I was looking to see if there was any news on their new songs coming out. And this Trump rant came out. Tommy Lee has always been the dumbest and most annoying member of the band. Here's some responses to his Trump rant.

Looks like Kid needs to smack ya around again! 😂 pic.twitter.com/yXqUDAKuCW— SkullDaddy (@gplouthan) November 11, 2018

Extremely insensitive but totally true!— Chris von Burgh (@ChrisThornburgh) November 11, 2018

It’s the states fault ! You voted em in !! Fix your forest n woods clean it up not fair to animals to go up in flames— Maria (@Maria35460142) November 12, 2018

bamabeachbum66If he's not your President, why do you care? Californians want nothing to do with Trump until they need something. Amazing!

ladolcevitaphotographystudios@matthewnelson677 tommy Lee is one of my all time favorites for sure, but I don’t know how having his face yell and say ---- a thousand times makes anything better or see how it’s productive. It also doesn’t mean it’s true. It’s a tragedy either way.

jgordon216@trkendrick77 so, just so I'm clear, no more hopes and prayers after shootings, cause it's time for a realistic addressing of the problem, but hopes and prayers after a fire and no addressing of the problem. Gotcha.

Was a big Motley Crue fan back in the day :)

“Kickstart my Heart” about the times they died from overdosing and needed their hearts “kickstarted”

“Smoking in the Boy’s Room” great version

“Too young to Fall in Love”

But yeah Tommy Lee isn’t up there on the IQ scale :)

Brett Michaels from “Poison” likes Trump

We’ll never read his quotes

They could have many billions more than needed but since the Left wingers running things in California would still have their heads shoved up their asses it wouldn’t matter one jot.

29 so far known dead, I imagine the number will be far greater. Alas, too much confidence after Paradise faced a similar fire in 2006 and lucked out (plus the city was actively pushing defensible space and allowing the removal of excess trees.)

Many on Facebook said how they were staying put, nothing happened last time, and they'll be laughing at the local breakfast hangout while everyone else sits huddled at the bottom of the hill in Chico waiting for permission to come back to Paradise.

But it's not 2006, there's been twelve years of overgrowth and vast amounts of ground cover that's been permitted to build up and coupled with high winds, it just ripped through house after house after house.

Those who actually maintained their properties had the best chance of their homes surviving, but at least 6,500 homes have been destroyed as well as most of the businesses in the city.

Forest and wildland management is a joke in California - every inch of the way you're fighting environmentalists in countless battles before unelected judges who never have to face the consequences of their legislation from the bench.

There was no firebreak around the town of Paradise. There were vast swaths of the town that were simply wild forest, and where residences were, huge clumps of pine trees (a favorite of the bark beetle) were ripe for ignition. Add in a dash of gasoline soaked wood (also known as chaparral and other ground cover) and criminally small roads on critical evacuation routes and you got exactly what happened.

People literally burned to death in their cars or just outside them, homeowners found inside homes and while they've done initial assessment of a tenth of the destroyed homes, it will likely take the combined expertise of anthropologists and DNA examiners to fully identify all the dead. 151 people are known to be missing at this time.

So Axel, thanks for continuing the conversation about forest management. Your lack of any knowledge on the subject is obvious for anyone to see that even Stevie Wonder can tell you're just spouting some random meme you caught in passing.

Oh, and man, must really burn that the president continues to be able to use your song with impunity. Hope he continues.

Drug addled Axl Rose is not the first person I would consult on scientific matters.

All that junk has taken a toll huh, Axl?

I'm not sure who Axel is, but I know his conclusions are wrong. I remember when this debate started. Environmental groups lobbied against forest management and controlled burns (standard policies of the time) presumably because they threatened the habitat of mice, birds, and such.

In the course of the debate I was fascinated to learn of the Jack Pine which seeds actually require fire to germinate. When science falls prey to politics, you get the Camp Fire. If the trend isn't reversed, far worse fires await. Trump is on target.
