I think you mean ‘absolute DEARTH’of any good music vs dirge.
I agree with you for the most part, though.
For the same reasons, I’ve begun to explore both baroque classical and American Gospel music. So much of what later became rock and roll was inspired by Gospel rhythms and beat patterns.
