6 great hikes in New Jersey to experience this Fall
(Excerpt) Read more at northjersey.com ...
If any of them are through Camden I ain’t interested.
If any of them are through New Jersey, I’m not interested.
Walk east until you friggin’ drown.
New Jersey arrests you for having the wrong gun or the wrong ammunition. They’re a no-go zone until they come to their senses.
They’re all in the hills or mountains of North Jersey. No mention of any hikes through the Pine Barrens of South Jersey.
Over the Cape May-Lewes ferry and keep going......
I grew up in NYC, and used to hike in Jersey all the time when I was a teenager. A lot of beautiful places there!
The pine barrens is such a wild and unique place. And easy flat hiking. Best if no one knows about it.
LOL.
The only hike in New Jersey that would interest me would be one that takes me out of this creepy and corrupt state (apologies to all NJ Freepers!).
.
I was expecting: “the income tax hike, sales tax hike, tolls hike, fees hike...” LOL!
Easy to forget there’s ‘wild’ lands in NJ.
The Tax Hike!
(what do I win?)
There are some lovely areas in north Jersey, but there can also be a lot of Lyme Disease in those parts. Hike with care.
At first glance, I thought you were talking about tax hikes and that your article was satire.

Had an aunt who went north and married a “country” doctor back in the early ‘50s. He was originally from New York City but they moved out to the country when they married and he started a practice in Ramsey, New Jersey and had a nice stone house overlooking the Ramapo River in the town of Mahwah.
Our family made the trek up north on a few special occasions and, as a kid, I loved the area. Wilderness abounded back then. (Haven’t been there in many, many moons as my Aunt and Uncle have since passed and the cousins had moved away from the area.) We would turn off the lights in the house at night and just leave a spotlight on outside and after a while the deer would appear, foxes, raccoons... even bobcats and a mama black bear and her cubs on a couple of nights. We would also make and set up animal targets along the tree line and shoot pellet guns, we would swim in the river and there was a pond nearby where we built a boat that actually floated... well, for a little while at least.
On a side note, one notable neighbor of theirs just a few doors down the road was Les Paul. Hate to think what has become of the place or how much a home costs up on that hill now. But it made for some good childhood memories. Not bad for New Jersey. Still too damn cold in the winter though.... :-)
“Great” and New Jersey?! I don’t think so. And I can’t conceal carry? Again, I don’t think so.
Boring Sunday night,,,
