Fascinating. I have a stocked pantry for emergencies, but never did any emp planning. Never even thought about trading. Fear our wine cellar has turned to vinegar over the past decades. Husband just lost interest and I’m a tee-totaler. Was cleaning the bottles last week and discovered some ‘55 ports and other old varieties that are still good - some really old cabernets (’63 and such), but I fear a lot of the other bottles would only be salad dressing in an emergency. And who’d have lettuce?
My pastor told us GOD still has the recipe for MANNA. :)
As long as they are still sealed they are fine.

I would usually. Grow it year round. Winter indoors or outdoors under row covers.
Don’t remember what the seedling greens are called—but if you had seeds & a grow light, you could have lettuce substitutes that had far more food value, vitamins & minerals etc.
