“Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will also break my bones and then get me fired and ostracized.”
The student should have been seriously disciplined with suspension. The teacher did not have a right to hit the student unless it was in self-denfense to counter or prevent a physical attack.
Where’s the video and what names did the teacher call the student? Of course none of the name-calling matters much in contrast to the pummeling of a 14 year old student.
In Los Angeles? Why, I would have thought that all that liberal indoctrination would have taken hold much better than that by now...... /s
That’s assault. He stalked him around the room, so he can’t claim self defense.
If I was a teacher and a Black kid called me Whitey, can I beat the hell out of him?
Seems to me Mr. Riley proved the student right as opposed to proving him wrong.
Two cases of low self control threshold’s colliding.
Isnt it racist to assume that someone, because of their ethnicity, is less capable of enduring name calling?
The teacher was in the right, until he started beating the kid with his fists.
Corporal punishment is applied with a paddle, not fists.
The kid was in the wrong, but is now going to get a million dollar settlement.
No. Calling someone the N word does not justify beating them into the ground. Not when the name caller is a child and the other person is an adult who is supposed to set an example of how to handle stress. No excuse at all!
The teacher should claim he is identifying as a 14 year old girl and was having a #metoo moment.
You have not been in a public school setting in a long time; this is commonplace.
The insane are running the asylum.
My advice to anyone thinking they want to go into teaching. Don’t. Just don’t.
Why was the kid so bold?
The student who punched looks black or Hispanic.
“The teacher should claim he is identifying as a 14 year old girl and was having a #metoo moment.”
Or claim he is a 14-year-old girl and it was “that time of the month”.

Student appears to be black
When you can control the behavior of another human being by simply uttering one word, you own that human being.
Technolically thats true. But if he used the n word then I have no sympathy for him.
