Ok, slow down! I get the drift. Right now we use a local isp with the signal from the top of a local mountain - wireless. Slow, no streaming! It’s $50/month. I asked the wrong ?. What I wanted to know is if we went with cable net it would be $45/month, with cable tv another $45/month.
If we subscribed to web/tv it would cost us $40-$50 /month, so why not get the internet/tv package for $90/month and have a larger selection of programs. I don’t see the advantage of streaming tv
There are several advantages to streaming services
1. Programs are on demand. You watch when you want not when they are on. No recording is needed. If you want to power-watch 6 seasons of Mission Impossible over a week-end you can.
2. Cost. Netflix, CBS All Access, Amazon prime all cost $8 to $12 a month (Amazon paid in a lump sum the others monthly) MLB.com is $125 (I think) for an entire season, with access to almost every game from either the home or away team broadcast. This is a lot cheaper than cable.
3. Controlability. You only pay for what you want. You do NOT support MSNBC/CNN or other stations you find particularly obnoxious. If you like a lot of crime drama there are streaming services that just have those.
4. Quality. All of the streaming services have excellent picture and sound quality
