At the large aerospace company I worked for, we celebrated these holidays with potluck lunches: Black History Month, St. Patrick's Day, Easter, Cinco de Mayo, and Philippines Independence Day. Of course we celebrated our own Independence Day, along with Thanksgiving and Christmas.

We were a multiethnic workforce, and there was no racial tension. Everybody loved the potlucks which fostered a wonderful feeling of camaraderie.

Mr. Inspectorette and I retired in 2005, I don't know if this tradition is still active. I hope it is.

I was a Mgr. at a major defense contractor. A guy was promoted from the mfg. area into our area. His birthday was Juneteenth. Folks in the mfg. area had always celebrated his birthday a certain way.

That ‘certain way’ continued after his promotions on up to Mgr. ...It involved a lunch time of watermelon, RC Colas and Moon Pies! ...btw, this guy was white and everyone looked forward to his b-day each year.

With all this cultural appropriation PC BS now, I guess that would not be allowed.
