With the Catholic Church already waist deep in scandal, liberal Pope Francis is now faced with an even longer list of questions to avoid answering, after human remains have been discovered on a property belonging to the Vatican. Late on Tuesday night, fragments of human bones were discovered during the remodeling of a building attached to the Vaticans embassy in Rome, Italy. Speculation has been mounting that the remains may belong to a 15-year-old girl who went missing in 1983 in a case that, campaigners believe, was covered up when Catholic Church officials were suspected in connection with her disappearance.

Considering all the intrigue that has gone on at the Vatican from day 1 the remains could be really old.

I read the article, and the word ‘speculation’ is used often.
Speculation is only speculation.

Considering that the Vatican is built on top of several cemetaries, some more than two thousand years old, it's not surprising that human bones would show up from time to time.
Of course, if these are only about 30 years old, there's going to be an explanation necessary.

were discovered during the remodeling of a building attached to the Vaticans embassy in RomeWhat?! The Vatican (surface area: 0.44 km2 = 110 acres), which is located in Rome, has - within its tiny borders - enough room for an embassy... TO ITALY?!

It says property belonging to the Vatican, so probably outside of the Vatican proper and elsewhere in Rome. But it’s still weird that they would need that embassy...
