But businesses say aliens do work that US citizens/residents are not willing to do.
What about allowing legal entry for legal work as guest workers?
This would provide workers for businesses, but would not allow in gang members and evil idiots.
I think in Europe they had that for a while and it worked.
I think it might be worth to consider it here too, to keep out thousands of aliens, while helping businesses get workers.
Make it a no-man’s land, far worse than the DMZ between the Koreas.
Mines in the desert, 50ft wide moat filled with alligators and mines. Make the southern border impenetrable.
Don’t care if they come for work.
Go through the front door and receive all the protections a lawful resident or citizen receives...
Get rid of welfare. That’ll mean less bait for illegals to come into the country, and will also mean Americans too lazy to work will either develop a work ethic or starve.
We already have seasonal worker systems in place. Also green cards, etc..
But you don’t mop the floor until you first stop the leak.
Let’s see a system that can actually control immigration, then, and only then, begin discussing what to do with those who are here or want to be here.
Correction: businesses hire illegals who offer to work for much less money than citizens want. Take away the illegals, or impose sufficiently heavy fines for hiring illegals, and businesses will raise their wages to hire Americans.
We just need to decide what we want, a welfare state? Or open borders? You can’t have both.

Need to take a few more steps:
1) Make them leave their families behind, they come alone, and if caught with family, they’re deported.
2) Either prohibit women of child-bearing age, or end anchor babies.
3) Punish the crap out of employers who don’t follow the rules
4) Limit their stints to something like 6 months here, 3 at home.
5) If all goes well with a worker after 5 or so stints here and they learn English, then consider putting them on a road to citizenship.

Welfare was never meant to be a career choice.
Demonictats want illegals to populate some states like Kalifornica so they can get extra representatives in the house and increase the power of the swamp. Fighting the swamp and sanctuary cities reduces the power of the plan.
No! Much simpler. Require eVerify and let American companies adjust their wage offerings to market prices. There are no jobs in American that would go lacking if the right wage and benefits were offered. Companies seeking cheap foreign labor, legal or otherwise, are simply trying to undercut and not use Americans.
I wish Trump would tell his crowds how the illegals get benefits through the government. The Dems always tell us that they do not get govt benefits. They get them ALL through the child. That would tick off people. It should help the Red Wave.

How to cope with labor shortages then? Higher pay, apprentice and training programs, and mechanization. Coping with labor shortages in that manner in the 50s and 60s raised US wages, made knuckleheads in high school into skilled blue collar workers, and helped spur US industrial development via the demand for work-related tools, equipment, and industrial machinery.
In an era of extraordinary advances in robotics and artificial intelligence, it is hard to imagine that labor productivity cannot be raised dramatically. All things considered, it is better to have 3CPO as a work colleague instead of a guest worker.

President Trump has said he wants extreme vetting of potential immigrants done through an interview with paperwork to back up the immigrant’s claims.
Properly implemented with tough penalties, this could end the problem.
