Megyn Kelly is off the air and heading toward the door at NBC, but it looks like any exit wont be as smooth as the former Fox News Channel host may have anticipated. Over the weekend and today, increasingly intractable NBC News boss Andy Lack has made it clear in talks with Kellys reps that a hefty payout for the rest of her $69 million contract is a non-starter, well-positioned sources tell Deadline.

It was someone named Lester Holt, not Al Roker.
I stand corrected. Lester Holt then. No diff.
She drew up the contract and shes no dummy.
Nah.
NPC is run by misogynists who are only trying to get out of fulfilling Megyn’s contractual stipulations because the aging lingerie model doesn’t put out anymore.
NPC can lawyer all they want, but the public is going to take up the misogyny chant because the “Women are victims” crowd will be aided by the people who hate NPC and want to see it damaged.
Every move NPC makes will be met by the assertion that their motive is a hatred of independent women.
They wanted their Alinsky, and they are getting their Alinsky. In spades. Or in blackface. Or bleeding out of their whatever.
I think the first phase is to try and convince the other guy that you’re serious. I agree with you, that NBC has a job to convince a jury that Kelly breeched her contract.
Still the balance owed her is obscene.
Funny how just about everyone on this forum predicted this. I can’t believe they paid her than much money, then put her in an entirely different setting rather than what she does.
She was never that good at what she does. She was fine in the field but behind the desk she was a big phony.
If she had toned her interviews down, been more like Barbar Walters or Judge Pirro with a side to bring out the good in the person she’s interviewing. No, she was always looking to apill out the negative and the dirt.
She made a lot of enemies very fast.
Shows how really stupid these execs are. They’re taking the wrong take on Trump also. If they would warm up to him, even be fair, people like me, might tune in.
Hollywood entity wants to avoid honoring contract: SHOCKING!
I agree completely. I am not happy to see her get a big payoff. NBC did hired her for one reason; they thought that keeping her Trump hating butt up on a soapbox would hurt the President. It was a stupid move because she had already offended almost everyone on both sides and no one wanted to watch her.
Sounds like NBC does not have the upper hand.
Really?
Let me ask you something. My Father who grew up on the streets of Chicago taught me this at a young age, and clearly Trump understands this too. In negotiations, who has more power? You, the co-signer of a $100,000 loan for a friend, or your friend?
Or to put it another way, who has more power over the other guy, the guy who owes you $100,000 or you the guy who is owed $100,000?
Or to put in really really really important terms... Who has more power China, to whom we owe a Trillion dollars in loans, or us the country who owes China?
The real question is do these people understand this? Right now NBC has the power over Kelly. They have her money. There’s something very emotional, when you don’t think you’re going to get paid...
Oh, I can hear you. The guy whom you owe the money has more power, because he can kill you. Really? Maybe he can use you to show the next guy what will happen to guys who don’t pay up, but we’re not talking about a few thousand dollars, we’re talking a lot of money here.
NBC has more power, and I suspect they have attorneys who will list a number reasons why Kelly did not fulfill her end of the bargain.
Being the dumbshytes they are, they will double down on him, just like the media did to Reagan and Kennedy.
There really is much to like about Trump esp if you’re a reporter.
If I were a young enterprising reporter at NBC or MSNBC or CNN etc. I would beg, borrow and steal to get an interview with Trump, then once in, I would really get into the heart of the man.
As a fellow baby boomer, I would ask him about Kennedy’s death, or Elvis or Buddy Holly. Ask him what he remembers most about his days in the military school etc.
I mean the things I’d like to know.
Everyone tries to beat up on the guy, and he always wins... always....
Part of the settlement might be NBC has to pay all her legal fees because NBC acted in bad faith (as usual).
I want to see here get paid too. Not because I like her, I don’t, but I do want to see NBC news division get screwed for their blatant leftist bias.
Can’t stand Megyn, but this is JUST WRONG.
If the contract says that she gets paid, then she gets paid (and NBC will also end up paying her lawyers, and maybe some punitive damages on top of that).
I’m not a Me Again fan, but a contract is a contract.
They always hated Kelly. They only supported her because she hated Trump. Now it’s time to dump her. She’ll be ruined.
Now to the subject at hand. When I was in banking, we had a saying.
If you owed the bank $100,000 and you couldn't pay, you were f*cked.
But if you owed the bank a $100 million and you couldn't pay, the bank was f*cked.
If this lady has a contract that NBC promised to pay her, they'll dicker and negotiate, but she has the upper hand in court with that contract.
In negotiations, the rule is the first one to blink loses.
NBC just blinked.
They should bring her back and pair her with Matt Lauer and Alec Baldwin. They could use some comfort about now.. She could be their nanny.
