That’s a great quote, but I am betting TR said no such thing. In his time, the term “liberal” had an entirely different connotation.
Snopes say it is false (no such quote by TR) but I still like the quote whereever it came from.

THAT was an exciting rabbit hole. I started searching out TR quotes - I do love the man - and came across a letter he wrote to an office seeker talking about TR seeing my great grandfather that afternoon, who was happy to take the man on as an assistant in his attorney general’s office. That’s something nifty to copy into my genealogy files. Thank you!
