Did they offer you a ride to the polls?
Stranger still is Multnomah is Portland, OR
I assume that’s what “if you want help” was about, at least in part.
I got one urging me to vote for “Beto” in Texas - where I have not lived since 2002 - worse yet it came to my phone addressed to my ex (by name), from whom I’ve been divorced for over a decade and a half. They are trolling big time - and they need to be sued and made to stop. No one has the right to harrass us with political crap unless we have given them our phone number first.
Multnomah County is in OR, what state are you in?
2500 miles is gonna take a lot of “walking around money”.
Arizona is probably the location of a call center, or some bulk texting outfit.
I searched the number and got nothing interesting.
O’Rourke’s campaign is being sued over it. Some people still have plans with limited texts per month or even pay per text. unsolicited texts are not permitted. And repeated requests to “be removed” seem to be falling on deaf ears.
New York. No Multnomah county here.
I got one encouraging my deal parents to vote.
I got a text from MoochSell Obama with a link. Rather than confirm I got it I erased the text . I felt violated! Violated I tell you!
the dems have been bombing peoples cell phones with unwanted text messages this season..
it’s upset a lot of people.
LOL. We’ve been getting them from FL for weeks. And notices about sending in our absentee ballots. From FL dem party and even one text from moveon org.
Any with similar wording?
I have been getting calls from out of state but they have been directed at campaigns in my area.
got text messages for helping both Dems and Reps but from within my state. Plenty of out of state hang ups and a few partial voice messages from political crap robo calls various other state area codes all across US.
They must have gotten the numbers of a lot of voters and are sending it out to everyone.
Just ignore it.
Every carrier has a way to report text messages as SPAM.
For example, to report SPAM on T-Mobile, forward the offending text to 7726 (which spells SPAM). They will reply that they will take care of it. And they will.
The carriers are very likely to flag similar messages in the future (including ones to be sent over the next several days) and block them from coming through.
Most of these senders will never have any clue as to whether their text messages are getting through, so your SPAM reporting will have even more of an impact because they will have more difficulty changing their content or strategy.
It may also be possible to join a class action suit against some of the text spammers, but this may not have an immediate impact on their role in the current election.
