“Come on guys, dont be so mean. This is incredibly tragic, wrote someone from Canada. Tragic that Momma Bear didnt get a chance to finish the job of taking out the trash.
Are people worse now, or were they always this bad and we just didn’t know it because there was no Internet?
I think a little of both.
I don't know but I do know that it increases my desire to arm myself.
Well I would say it has gotten worse with the internet. While people may have felt the same, they were less likely to hear it, and if they did they had to confront the person in person. If they wrote them a latter it cost them money. One takes courage and the other takes effort. The internet removes both of those obstacles. So yes, it is worse now because the audience in no longer just local, it’s worldwide. That means you can attack and remain anonymous with no additional cost.
i know i am worse. Before, if i knew you were a liberal, i dismissed you as a clueless nutbar. Now, if i know you are liberal, i get myself out of the conversation before I say something like “It’s people like you that ruin our country”
Old friends, new friends, family.... i am disgusted. I don’t want to hear the other side. I have lost all patience. They are WRONG.
and thats not cool.
I don’t know, I’ve often wondered. I think the anonymity of the internet has a lot to do with it. Look at history, Hitler, Stalin, Mao, the Khmer Rouge, Saddam, all in fairly recent history.
Twitter is loaded with this stuff. Over and over again.
