Then there was the meter master who had my ticket all programmed in his machine and ready to go. I got to my car - I had it timed on my cell phone to the second] before the meter expired, started the engine, but could not move because he blocked the way, the meter expired, he printed the ticket and handed it to me.

So, some of them are nasty jerks who deserve more than all the abuse they get.

Like all law enforcement, the good guys an gals would get a lot more respect if they worked to drive the bad guys and gals out of their ranks.

I got one of those tickets myself in Manhattan Beach where the cops have very little to do. He was standing beside my metered car as the time ended and I approached. Not only did he lecture me, he told me I was “already in the system” having being busted the year before for speaking on my cell phone on a residential street. I am lucky I didn’t get handcuffed and strip searched. Manhattan Beach, the safest place to live, I’m telling you.

Agree.

In DC I was walking on the sidewalk and saw a parking enforcement patrol car park in a no parking zone, blocking the handicap access to the crosswalk, and then saw another parking enforcement officer park her vehicle in a marked no parking zone. Both went inside a restaurant and were there for over an hour.

They came out and one meter-maid saw a vehicle parked across the street, blocking the same handicapped no parking zone, blocking handicap access to the crosswalk.

She went to that vehicle and ticketed it.

The meter-maid girls became aggressive when I pointed out they were also parked illegally. . . and they demanded to know what car on the street was mine. . . .a threat.

I called Parking enforcement and tried to file an official complaint. Was hung up on.

I was in New Orleans (early 80s) and set my watch timer, got to the meter with 5 minutes left and the meter maid was writing a ticket. Yes the meter showed expired but there was still 5 minutes time showing. I pointed that out to here and she basically said she could not do anything.

I went to pay a parking ticket, put in all the time needed plus 5 minutes into the meter, got back to my car and found ANOTHER ticket on the windshield.

I was quite firm with the city clerk when I returned with photos.

I had a similar situation in a big city that I didn't live in, several years ago before the advent of computerized parking ticket enforcement and so forth. I was walking back to my car when the F%%%ing meter enforcement @$$hole was just finishing the ticket. He managed to put it on my car before I could get to it and get it started to drive off. I grabbed it off my windshield, drove off about three blocks, tore it in half and threw it out the window. Never heard a peep from those Nazi b@$tards.

Had another situation in which I had a license plate "improperly displayed" in a city where once they find something like that, it's just easy pickings for them to put a ticket on the car every day, even though the improper display of license plate is technically a STATE offense where I live. I got two tickets, two days in a row, fixed the display issue, and never got another one. It was all I could do to keep from vandalizing one of their stop signs to get even financially, but I knew that with all the cameras around I couldn't get away with it.

Not super sympathetic to this thread.
