LifeZette talked to Terri Palmquist, one of several people who helped a future mom say 'no' to killing her baby
On the opening weekend of the movie Gosnell, a Christian pro-life ministry in Bakersfield, California, rented out a theater to allow as many people as possible to see the film which tells the true story of former abortion doctor and convicted murderer Kermit Gosnell. (Shown above: actor Dean Cain, right, and director Nick Searcy, left, from the film.)
It is fair to say today they believe it was well worth their investment.
Tim and Terri Palmquist of LiverSavers Ministries, Inc., were pleased not only with the turnout but that the film made some of its viewers more passionate about the pro-life cause.
Ultimately, this particular screening led to its viewers helping one young local woman in changing her mind about getting an abortion.
After the screening of the movie, Terri Palmquist, who is a mother of 11 children herself, told LifeZette she spoke with the audience and shared more with them about what her ministry does. On Wednesdays every week, they stand outside their local abortion clinic and talk to women in the hope they will change their minds and choose life for the child in their womb over abortion.
On the Wednesday after the screening of Gosnell, Palmquist was able to attract four mothers with young children, who were each at the screening, to come with her to speak with women about reconsidering their decision to get abortions and they were successful.
Palmquist said she and the mothers spoke to a woman who was about 20 years old who ultimately decided against going into the clinic to get her abortion that was scheduled that day.
The young woman came to her decision after speaking with the moms and seeing how happy they were with their small children.
The girl was just touched, Palmquist told LifeZette in an exclusive phone interview this week. The moms were letting the girl hold the babies. Without them there, I dont think we wouldve been able to reach that mom, and the moms who came out were motivated by the movie.
Palmquist also said the 20-year-old she met was a student a young woman who felt like she did not have any place to turn to raise a child.
She thought a baby would interfere with her life, Palmquist said. She knew it was wrong, but she just needed a little more encouragement. And seeing the moms with their babies made her realize she could do it. Plus, we told her we could help her, so she made some new friends.
Sometimes, moms just dont realize the help thats available and the danger theyre the facing, she added. You dont know whats going on behind those doors [at the abortion clinics].
Providing help for mothers who decide against abortions is nothing new for LifeSavers Ministries. Every December, the group holds a baby shower for moms who decide against abortions.
As for the movie Gosnell, Palmquist said she was happy with the way it turned out.
Sometimes, moms just dont realize the help thats available and the danger theyre the facing, she added. You dont know whats going on behind those doors [at the abortion clinics].
I was very impressed with the acting. No offense to some Christian-based films, but the acting can be pretty cheesy sometimes, she said. But this is well-produced and even if a few things were changed in the story, it was still really good.

More lives saved
Wow.. That is WONDERFUL!
Plus, we told her we could help her, so she made some new friends....
The fight doesn’t end after the baby is born.
We need to help those who had the courage to do the right thing in whatever way we can before and after the delivery.
I volunteered a while ago at a place for unwed mothers to be a WHILE back in NYC.
Need to look into it again.
Finally! Some truth to...If it just saves one child.
It was worth it
