GOES Card

Posted on 10/26/2018 12:35:07 PM PDT by Allen In Texas Hill Country

We've had a GOES card for several years. Its a card from the gummit that gets you by TSA security when traveling.

I just got an email saying I have to convert my account over to the new TTP system. It gives me a URL "ttp.cbp.dhs.gov" to click on. Pardon my paranoia but not quite yet!!!!!!!

Anybody here have a GOES account and get this email?????

TOPICS: Travel
KEYWORDS: goes; goescard; tsa
Pardon the vanity and break from the you know what.

i’d still navigate there myself instead of clicking on a link in an email though, just out of paranoia

Go ahead and follow the instructions.
This was discussed in detail on a travel related website I use.
It’s really rather painless and only takes a few minutes.

Wise to not trust an email.

You often get to skip a lot of spaces in line on the Pre Check list.

I have a canadian passport and I do everything the same way. Personally know some people who have the NEXUS card and the same BS goes when flying. It only works well when DRIVING thru the checkpoints with no stupid questions.

Do a search. If the program is going away the link will be on the page.

It’s ok to be paranoid, but if you are using rudimentary security you will be fine. Just don’t be so paranoid you start sending pretend bombs to pretend leaders.

trusted traveller let me avoid taking off shoes, skip taking laptop out of backpack, skip radiation scanner (only do magnetic instead). Mostly.

It doesn’t always work for all of these, depends on the location I guess.
It sure saves a lot of time on lines also.

No, there are actually separate lines. we came back from Russia in May. The two lines, immigration and customs were super long and we bypassed them both. Works for us.

I followed that link you provided and had no proble... WAIT, What's that smoke coming from my computer? :)

Seresiouly, it's neigh impossible to fake a Top Level Domain (like .gov, .com, .edu). A trick scammers use is to display a come-on link and when you click it, it goes somewhere else. Like this:

World's Most Desirable Girls Are Just a Click Away
