PS. By “other democracies”, are you calling the USA a democracy instead of a republic?
Two things killed off the American Republic:
1) Direct election of Senators (Seventeenth Amendment - 1913 (hint - same year as the Federal Reserve).
2) Imposition of Universal Suffrage - starting with the 19th Amendment in 1920, and reaching fruition in 1964.
I was wondering the same thing. Maybe “democracies” is sloppy thinking, or a typo. Because we certainly are *not* a democracy. We are a Constitutional Republic.
