And I had no idea until they pulled the plug that Warner Brothers even owned DramaFever.
I know Viki is owned by Rakuten, which is a Japanese conglomerate.
A big reason why I haven’t watched TV in years...
Those shows and all the ads that sponsor them are alternative universes.
DramaFever was also a Japanese company (owned by one of the Japanese banks, I think). Warner Brothers bought it in late 2016 and the quality started to go down, but it was still popular because it had the highest number of the old dramas still on its site. Viki does not have as much material.
One speculation is that they shut it down to try force people to go to a new “pay per view” service that Warner Brothers is setting up, which would charge magnitudes higher for watching (DramaFever was basically $50 a year). But I don’t think any of the present viewers will do that.
Homosexuals aren’t welcome in my home. As soon as that rears its ugly head, and it seems they must all do so eventually, then we pull the plug on that show and never watch it again. Period.
Anton Lavey said that a TV is a Satanic temple in every living room.
And, “TV” watching is likely at an “Alltime” LOW
Anyhoo... She was excited to see the first female doctor. Was riveted to the screen, called in WBill Jr to see it, etc etc. I asked afterwards how it was, and she said "It was OK." and nothing more.
She's not watched it since. It was so great that she, and my son, have completely forgotten about the show. Fine by me, I'd rather watch the "bad movie channels" on Saturday night. Nothing like a couple of good 70s B-movie monster flicks. :-)
I am watching more & more reruns. Worked in Hollywood in 1971-1975. Saw & dealt with all the gays I EVER need to see.
I have removed it from my items to record on my DVR. Bye bye Dr.
lol - broadcast TeeVee is unwatchable.
One second year show that I do watch is “9-1-1” on Fox. The stories are fairly interesting and the people being portrayed are credible. Especially loved this week’s episode when one of the firefighters told off a traffic babe turned “journalist”, who did a piece on the fire station. He thanked her for going easy on the chief, who has been dealing with some personal issues regarding his family who were killed in a fire while he was on a bender. Her comment was that she wanted to put it in, but “your lawyers are nastier than ours”.
Still, you have a black female police officer whose husband left her for a white guy, so she’s now hooking up with the fire captain, who is ALSO a white guy. Not to mention one of the EMTs is a black woman who had a child with her white female lover and some random black dude. When her girlfriend ended up in jail for drugs, the EMT then proceeded to marry her new black girlfriend.
There was a relationship between two people of the opposite sex and same race going on last year, but she’s left the show and he’s still kind of pining for her. Guess they can’t show a “traditional” family anymore.
I think the author wants us to be happy about this.
They simply guarantee that I will not watch.
The New York theater is dying, the late Ernie Kovacs complained recently’
okay, if you consider being dead for 56 years recent...
‘Nothing like a couple of good 70s B-movie monster flicks.’
I don’t know; ‘50’s b-movie monster flicks are pretty good too...
Gay shit is up
viewership is falling.
No correlation
