The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge joined the Queen and the Royal Family at the State Banquet for the King and Queen of the Netherlands on Tuesday night.
Kate wore a blue Alexander McQueen gown and the Cambridge Lovers Knot tiara, which once belonged to Princess Diana.
The diamond and pearl headpiece dates back to 1914, when Queen Mary commissioned the piece from Garrard. It was passed down to her granddaughter, the Queen, who then gave it to Princess Diana as a wedding present in 1981.
Kate teamed it with Princess Dianas Collingwood pearl and diamond drop earrings.
According to From Her Majestys Jewel Vault, the pearl and diamond necklace is part of Queen Alexandras Wedding Parure a gift from her husband Albert Edward, Prince of Wales (son of Queen Victoria and the future King Edward VII) in 1863.
Queen Mary gave the necklace to the Queen Mother, who wore it constantly.
The Duchess wore the Royal Family Order for a second time a personal gift from the Queen. The badge features an image of the Queen and Kates one is made of glass, not the traditional ivory.
Queen Maxima also wowed in the Stuart Tiara for the dinner.
King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands are on two day state visit to the UK.
They were welcomed by Her Majesty and the Prince of Wales, and received a Ceremonial Welcome on Horse Guards Parade on Tuesday morning.
During their busy first day, the King and Queen also visited Westminster Abbey to lay a wreath at the Grave of the Unknown Warrior and the Houses of Parliament.
The last State Visit from the Netherlands was by Queen Beatrix and Prince Claus in November 1982.

Goodness, thank you for posting CondoleezzaProtege :)
I haven’t seen one of those ‘mermaid’ gowns in ages...
‘Bicycle Monarchy’ :-)
What is the Duchess of Cambridge?
“Did not know that the Dutch have a Royal Family...”
Backwards freaks.
I’m glad my ancestors left there hundreds of years ago.
Inane, and insane. It’s laughable in this day and age to contemplate people that respect anything “royal”.
Marry me, Kate.
Dump that other guy.
The House of Orange owns Royal Dutch Shell. DH's great uncle was a lawyer for the House of Orange.
I wouldn’t be able to walk past the Beefeater without busting a gut.
Why do freepers especially the ones that live in the US even care about what goes on with royal families, I thought we stopped caring by 1776 and fought to get away from all that.
Some of us respect royalty because the countries that still harbor it seem to want to keep it - it represents their culture and history. When they - (and not just the radical leftists of those populations) - decide that they don’t want it anymore...well, different story. In the meantime, it’s not up to me to decide.
My favorite of the ‘bicycles’ is Queen Margrethe:

AND she looked STUNNING!
The three Wales wives: Horsey, Classy and Trashy.
The Dutch Monarchy has existed since the 1400s.
King Willem III was also the King of England in 1689.
The jewelry is outstanding.
The Queen must be 5’ tall now.
I love you.
