This is exactly what some of us here have been saying since the git-go.
We are at the beginning of heading into a Maunder-minimum or Dalton-minimum period of perhaps 75-150 years of global cooling. Call it the ManBearPig Minimum - scientists refer to it as the Modern Minimum. Cycle 25 was a pipsqueak compared to 24; 26 will be even less than 25, and perhaps there will be a few cycles after that with few if any sunspots.
Then there are the Milankovitch cycles. Three of them. One having to do with the eccentricity of earth’s orbit. Over the course of 100,000 years (Can you say “ice age”?) the earth carves out a mostly circular orbit to one that is highly elliptical. The other two cycles are 41,000 and about 22,000 years, further impacting us earthlings, as they align and unalign with the first cycle.
Love it!
The impending minimum already has a name. It’s called the Eddy Minimum. Named after the climatologist who first identified it.
