Excellent excellent analysis by that EOD guy!!

Redditors rock!!

The NPC memes are much better now that they’re used in things rather than just about NPCs themselves which was getting stupid lol

Here is a really interesting read from an Army demolitions anon on Reddit:

https://www.reddit.com/r/The_Donald/comments/9rge6d/id_like_to_offer_my_analysis_of_these_bombs_based/

I’d like to offer my analysis of these “bombs” based off of my experience working with lots of similar devices Seeing this picture of this thing over and over again has gotten to me. None of this is classified, and is common information that can be found on the internet. My opinions do not reflect those of the army, so nobody get their panties in a twist.

TLDR; this “bomb” is a poor attempt at trying to make what looks like an explosive device. It’s laughable. And whoever made it, probably some deranged liberal, is a complete moron and is most likely going to federal pound me in the a$$ prison for a long, long time.

Strap in, it’s rant time!

This “bomb” is a joke. Really? My job in the army involves replicating a terrorist fighter in a training environment, and I’ve been simulating and replicating foreign terrorists from most of the groups that we have been at odds with for the past four years. During this time, I was trained on bomb making and IED emplacement and was the lead man of my company’s IED cell. I have made tons of roadside explosives and booby traps, and even though they had pyrotechnics on the business end instead of explosives, the same building principles apply. Here’s my analysis of this “pipe bomb”

Let’s start with the main body. It appears to be a small pvc pipe. This is ridiculous, as the only shrapnel it would produce little more than plastic shards, making the only deadly part of this the explosion itself. A real explosive made by someone actually trying to have an effect would be in a metal tube, such as the piping for a gas line.

Now, let’s look at the ends. This looks like either aluminum foil (wtf?!) or some type of clay/epoxy puddy. This is to contain pressure in the pressure vessel, which we just concluded isn’t actually a pressure vessel, to cause it to shrapnel. Don’t even ask me why they are the size of golf balls, it just looks like someone was trying to make it look scary.

Now, let’s get into the business side of things. That little black clock thing is a countertop timer, that you would use to cook with or something. It counts down, and beeps when it reaches 0. First, this was sent through the USPS first class mail. I also run a small ebay business, so I know shipping for this service usually takes about 5-7 days, maybe less if it is mailed from a close location. A timer like this runs off of hours, minutes, and seconds. It has 4 digits, two for hours and two for minutes if you were to set a long length timer like what would be required for this to work. Let’s pretend each of those digits can go up to 9, which I doubt. The maximum timer this device could set would be 99 hours and 99 minutes, or about 4 days and 5 hours. Whoever made this must be retarded, because this would mean one of two things: it would time out and detonate before it ever made it to it’s destination in some poor mail workers office, or it would get there in time with the timer still far from reaching 0, leaving plenty of time to take care of it. I guess there’s a chance they could have randomly timed it perfectly, but that’s really a stretch. If they wanted it to actually work, they wouldn’t have used a timer. They would have done something like the unibomber did, and had it go off if the package was opened. But that wasn’t the intention, it was obviously intended to be found at it’s destination for, oh I don’t know, publicity.

As if all this wasn’t retarded enough, let’s take a peak at the wiring. In order to set off explosives, which I’m not sure what type was or was not inside, you need a primer. If this was some type of plastic explosive, it would need a blasting cap. A blasting cap requires a positive and a negative lead running into it, and while there are two wires present that look like they could fit the bill, they are going to separate sides of the device. So there couldn’t be a blasting cap. So now that we know it’s not a plastic explosive, what if it was gunpowder or something like tnt. This would require some form of heat, like a fuse or an electrical igniter. It’s obviously not a fuse, theres no way the timer could light a fuse with electricity. So it has to be an electronic igniter. These igniters, like the ones found in model rocket engines, have two leads which meet at a tip which is a thin filament which heats up when given a charge, like a light bulb. So explain to me why exactly the two wires coming out of the timer go to different ends of the device. I honestly can’t think of a reason or a possible method that would require this. And these wires are obviously just single lead solid copper wires, just look at how they are stiff and bent. My guess is they go to nothing, unless the maker went out of his way to awkwardly place the detonator in the middle and tried to pack the explosive around it. Absolutely ridiculous.

Ok, so let’s just say he did for shits and giggle. Those wires would have to go to the little buzzer inside the timer, as that’s the only thing that produces an electrical charge when the timer hits 0. A little timer like that probably uses two AAA batteries or a tiny disk battery, and because of this runs off of ~1.5-3 volts. This is nowhere enough voltage to ignight an electrical ignighter. From reading model rocket forums, it doesn’t even look like 6 volts is enough sometimes to ignite them. Even if the minascule voltage was enough, the buzzers in devices like those usually use something called pulse width modulation, which means it’s not even getting a constant voltage.

Now whoever made this is at least somewhat intelligent, they obviously didn’t look up how to make a pipe bomb (obviously). So what was their intent? To me, it is obvious that they wanted something that looks like a pipe bomb to show up at these places. Now why would someone want that? I’ll let you decide.

Now who is it? I can almost guarantee this was a single person or small group, not some grand conspiracy. They did it too poorly to be anything other than some triggered liberal who wanted to swing the public opinion. All those materials will be easily traced back to where they were bought. Prints will be pulled from the tape, and if they wore gloves residue will be on the tape and they will figure out exactly where they got those too. The United States government has been investigating the origins of bomb materials every day since 9/11 overseas, so they’re pretty damn good at it.

Even the packaging is retarded. They were smart enough to know hand writing the addresses was a bad idea, but too stupid to know that every modern printer since like 2004 prints microscopic dots that are a unique identifier, meaning that the NSA can track exactly where this idiot printed the addresses at and on what printer. Whoever did this is f***ed. What a moron!
