If they don’t show up, there is not a quorum. If no quorum, then no business can be conducted. At least that’s the way it usually works.

I remember that Dems did this for some state legislature - can’t remember what state - they all just left and hid out.

Wisconsin. They crossed the line into Illinois, asking the protection of the Illinois Legislature and the Illinois State Police from the Wisconsin Legislature’s Sergeant-at-Arms and Wisconsin State Police.

I think that was the state with all the Scott Walker drama. I forget which state. One of the snow states.

Wisconsin Democrats did it in 2011, but the original case was the Texas legislators fleeing to Oklahoma to avoid the Texas Rangers back in 2003.
