The satellites owner, Iridium, confirmed that it was indeed a component of their spacecraft, and more specifically it was a piece of the defunct Iridium Satellite #70, which had been in orbit for two decades. As with all satellites, the spacecraft eventually reentered Earths atmosphere, where it was expected to be completely destroyed.
Somehow, this rather large piece of the spacecraft managed to survive the intense inferno and tumbled all the way down to an unsuspecting farmers walnut orchard.

Kartographer,
There is no edge (drop off) to the earth (as imagined by the mockers).
There IS an ice wall at Antarctica. However, Antarctica is NOT a continent. It is merely the first land we encounter as we travel south.
My understanding is that we are on a large plane (flat surface). The earth is a circular region on that plane.
Byrd explored that edge and beyond more that a half century ago. He even spoke about it on television.
wardaddy,
It does not really matter where “space” starts. The important point is that there is nothing to “orbit.”
The earth is flat. Water on its surface does not curve. You can use a laser to verify that claim.
With no curve, there is nothing to “orbit.”
So explorers who have sailed around Antarctica or crosed it are mistaken? How high up is this dome and why haven’t aircraft or rockets encountered it?
Kartographer,
Sailors have sailed the perimeter. The voyage is approximately 60,000 miles, an unexpectedly large distance if the earth were a globe. Here are the references for sailors Cook (1773) and Ross (1839):

I believe that the dimensions of the firmament (dome) give it a diameter of approximately 25,000 miles with a highest point at the North Pole.
We have, indeed, encountered the firmament:

The atomic bombs were detonated over Johnston Island in the Pacific Ocean. The highest detonation was at approximately 400 km (248 miles). From this datum we have a minimum height, but I believe that it is higher than 400 km.
Part 2

This video suggests that the dome may have a height of more than 1,000 km (620 miles) in some places.
Have you ever been at altitude and looked at the horizon
wardaddy,
Yes. Many times. Hundreds of times.
It is as flat as a pancake as far as the eye can see.
More, the vanishing point (”horizon”) rises to meet the eye. That is only possible on a flat earth. On a “globe” earth, the “horizon” would drop away and you would have to look down more and more to keep your eye on it as you increased your altitude.
Where does the ocean water go when it arrives at the edge of the Earth?
Pelham,
You are possibly picturing a flat disk floating in space with water spilling off the edge.
That is NOT the correct picture. That is the image use by mockers. It is a straw man argument. Ignore it.
Try this:
A flat disk (like a phonograph record) sitting on a larger flat table. The edge of the disk has an ice wall several hundred feet high.
The water does not “go” anywhere. It is contained.
So... if the ice wall were to get breached, where does the water go?
Pelham,
Bring up a few pictures of the Antarctica ice wall on Google.
It is not a dam. It is solid snow and ice several hundred feet high as you move south.
If there were a breach, ocean would just run into more solid snow and ice.
