Golfers in St. Petersburg, Florida, were shocked when they saw a massive rattlesnake slither across the course.
Logan Ungerer and some friends were golfing at Mangrove Bay Golf Course on Columbus Day when Ungerer saw what looked like a stick blowing in the wind on the green, according to Fox 13.
Upon closer inspection, he realized it wasnt a stick at all it was a snake.
The creature was likely a diamondback rattlesnake, David Steen, a conservation biologist, told the Tampa Bay Times. Diamondbacks are said to be the largest venomous snake in North America, reaching up to eight feet in length, National Geographic reports.
Steen called the sighting unusual.
"Snakes are typically secretive creatures that have nothing to gain from interacting with people, so it is unusual for a snake like this to be found in the open on a golf course," Steen said. "It is likely that the rattlesnake was simply observed while traveling from one forest patch to another."

went to a reunion and this woman asked me to take a few pictures of her and her friends.
I turned the thing sideways and she started yelling at me for holding it wrong.
I told her to chill out and when she saw the full screen full body and large full frame shots she loved them..
Well Duhhh..who a thunk
21 post and no one suggest a nine iron or sand wedge to the head of the rattler.
Ill let myself out."
It's OK. You didn't make too much of an asp of yourself. ;)
Doubly rare is a rattlesnake with no rattles.
The golfers should have killed it. Next time, it’ll bite a golfer or their little kid who runs to get a ball.
Since it was already on the green, a putter would have been more appropriate.....
That's why I shoot every stick I see, a policy that keeps me out of the woods because I can't afford it!
A Nine or Sand Wedge?
.
That snake had some Attitude,
I think a little More Distance
Would be Prudent.
Say, 12Ga.

“I asked a snake whats 2 + 2? He said 3. I knew right then he wasnt an adder.
Ill let myself out.”
It’s OK. You didn’t make too much of an asp of yourself. ;)
Don’t worry, Puppage probably wears a yellow jacket.
And you for your service.
Don't slither away. You've only just started to garter attention.
I am happy to say I have never seen one of them.
,
Id use a driver. I dont want to get sand wedge close.
Yes... I kilt a water moccasin a couple of years ago with a shovel, but I wouldn’t give that one a try without a firearm - preferably a shotgun.
Thats why when playing golf, you should try to keep it on the fairways............................. In FLA? Someone always has a 9mm with them.
Years ago I was golfing on a mountain course in Virginia and noticed a big rattlesnake just off the fairway. I told the group behind us about it so they could avoid it. On the green I look back and see the group killing it with clubs and large rocks. While I thought that was unnecessary at the time, they did give it to the course restaurant which served it that night.
