Can recurrences be prevented?
I fear the answer is, no. So, kill all murderers, to
(1) prevent recidivism, and
(2) dissuade the murderers who may be wavering in their decisions.
Will we ever stop those who fall in category (3)?
The ones who kill (like Ted Bundy or Charles Manson or whomever) just because they want to? I doubt it.
But the current holocaust of victims of killers is unacceptable and unsustainable.
we are told that locking prisoners up for life guarantees they won’t kill again. Except they do kill prisoners and guards and even the public when they are granted a furlough visit or escape.
