Hmm? So traditional family has a role in this? Of course that will go against the anti-family Marxist propaganda.

Some people just don’t want jobs. Some people just want big Gov to take care of them.

Some people struggle ALL their lives.

For jobs to reduce poverty those in poverty have to apply for them. I don’t see that issue addressed. If they are not looking for work, they are not unemployed, but rather existing on transfer payments. Adopt the German system of Workfare where you show up at 7AM and work until 5PM, or you don’t get your assistance. It’s amazing how fast almost all of them find better jobs.

But if Obama were POTUS in 1990, all poverty and homelessness would have disappeared for 8 years. Got it.

And why did you not look at the last 2 years instead going back 20?

Because the last 2 years give the lie to this Leftists propaganda.

Getting ahead through job growth requires work on one’s part.

High poverty areas typically include many people who use benefits to exist - and work is anathema to them.

Lather, rinse, repeat.

the job gains mostly bypassed residents — often African-American — who had been born into poverty.

Until President Trump came along, which is why he is eating into the Democrat's black vote numbers.

Traditional families are dead in the black communities. They will do anything for nieces nephews and cousins, but fathers? Nix that.

This disaster brought to you by the Democrap Party. Destroying black families for over 200 years!

poor Americans are frequently left behind

Some poor Americans frequently choose to stay behind.

Some poor Americans choose to make $ in alternative ways, e.g., off the books.

As long as lazy people can sit on their asses and get all their needs provided for free — housing, food stamps, Obamacare, cell phone, utilities — job growth won’t make a damn bit of difference to them. To paraphrase Chris Rock, a job to them is like Kryptonite.

Of course not, not if the community's "poverty" is the result of drug abuse, criminality, family breakdown, and old-fashioned laziness. With welfare protecting the deadbeats and parasites, there's no NEED for a job, so why would a junkie crook with no ties but his homies care about whether there's work available?

Tie a job to his survival, and I'll bet jobs become a lot more important.
