I thought the sun spots were supposed to cause more cold and snow - do they trump El Niño?

There is some correlation of low sun spot activity and El Nino events as the lessening solar activity from the sun tends to slow the easterly winds in the Pacific thereby allowing warmer SSTs to form in the central and western pacific (El Nino).

Yesterday here was a post about how we are going to nearly die from the up comming Winter.

Saw it, so apparently we've narrowed it down to two possibilities, either colder than normal or warmer than normal.

Of course, they had to say it is because of a warming planet. Stock tip: ‘Short Artic Cat stock’.

Standard ape crap. It wont feel any warmer. In fact due to the heavier than normal rains, it will feel colder at times. Look for inches of ice being left in places.

Our weather this year in Idaho has been almost picture-perfect normal, so I expect the winter to be about the same. Not like two years ago where I had to shovel snow three times a day.
