The key word is “illegally”, because, like the last caravan, if they come to the border checkpoints and claim refugee status, we were forced to process them.
If they were in Mexico safely, then they shouldn’t be able to request refugee status, but somehow Obama changed that and the judges and democrats now are saying it’s established policy.

I think Trump should just close down the border to any “refugees” or asylum seekers until we get proper laws in place.

He could do this by EO, claiming the immigration courts are hopelessly backlogged now, which they are.

We shut down immigration in 1924, and except for some displaced persons after WW2, we did not open it up again until 1954.
