Great movie, deeply patriotic. I don't get all the BS on the flag. it is all over the movie, and on the Moon.
Multiple times goosebumps. The Saturn vehicle launch is worth the price of admission alone. Ryan G is awesome. The only false note is Claire foy's part as the wife. I wish she had been more supportive and less of a worrier. But, that aside, a must see Freeper Movie Great window into USA greatness when we have a clear objective.
Imagine for a moment they made a movie about the Battle of Iwo Jima without showing the raising of the Flag on Mount Suribachi and the members of the movie company says says something about they left it out as they don’t see it as an American victory, but a victory for all freedom loving people? You feel the same?
Great analogy. The Iwo Jima victory was an American victory, paid for by American dollars earned by American citizens at the excessive cost of American lives and blood. To say the British, Aussies or Soviets deserve just as much credit for it is rubbish.
If they hadn’t come out and bragged about deliberately omitting the flag in that scene, who would have made an issue of it. Perhaps someone would have, but it was the deliberate decision to MAKE THAT FALLACIOUS POINT (and then BRAG about it) is what many such as you and I take exception to.
Thank you, Hildy. Well said.
I take no issue with those who wish to see it, their time, their decision, and their money. People like you and I take issue with the DELIBERATE omission, and the pride in the making of that deliberate omission.
The planting of the flag was an iconic moment that was deliberately left out so as not to offend the left here and abroad. It’s not “total BS” to complain about that. You can say it’s an overblown complaint, but it’s not nothing.
I saw it the other day. 3 stars.
The flag thing (you see it but don’t see it being planted), I get it but I think “our side” is overreacting, I don’t think it was any grand conspiracy to “not offend foreigners” or any such, it was an artistic choice by the director. I wasn’t so much a “moon landing movie” per see (I can hardly believe that other than a 1996 tv movie there hasn’t been one) as a biopic of Armstrong’s career, the focus was all on him during the landing. Big emotional punch, I knew he’d be leaving that bracelet on the moon (if something that that actually happened it’s not public knowledge).
I would liked to seen more of Aldrin, they cut a scene that I think was important, when Armstrong was offered the chance to replace him but didn’t.
I have enjoyed Gosling acting for the most part and his occasional antics on "Graham Norton Show" Youtube clips but once he made his in-your-face stupid choice of liberal diverse mankind fantasy over historical fact, I have cut him off from my money via ticket sales.
And without doubt, he is shaking in his boots... as to how his next Rolls Royce will be paid for!
I don’t watch space movies that don’t have aliens......
I bet if you clicked on his stupid website he would like you all better lol.
True! True!
And yet the moon-made crafts travel freely through the fundament etc etc etc*
