The new Roseanne Conner was unrecognizable, a once proudly feminist freethinker that was conned into voting against her familys best interests (not that the show wanted to get into that), and a survivor of parental abuse that went from vowing to never strike her kids to championing spanking a teenager. It felt like the Roseanne revival was written by people working from glancing at Wiki summaries of old episodes; the characters were all there, but their personalities had been edited by randos.
Now, in the kind of scientific sitcom experiment that we practically never see conducted, we get to witness whether or not it really was Barr that made the revival feel so off. The Conners is, for all intents and purposes, Season 2 of the Roseanne revival, except with the title character plucked out (and as per an embargo agreement, youre not going to find out anything about Roseanne Conners fate in this review). The creators are the same (barring Barr) and the cast is the same, with the addition of Maya Lynne Robinson as DJs wife, back in Lanford after a tour of duty in Afghanistan. One things been changed, so what does that do to the show?
It makes it better.
The Conners has Roseannes ethos without having Roseannes ethos. With Barr removed from the show and her live-tweeting conspiracy theories about gun violence survivors removed from the back of our minds, there is an ease and lightness to The Conners that harkens back to the original series heyday. The artificiality, the nonstop winking towards real America at the cost of real characters and real conversations, has been excised from the show. Barr was, without a doubt, holding the revival back.

OMG!!! WHO is THAT???
Probably. I give it half a season.
At the most.
At least “Last Man Standing” survived. Elsewhere.
Those were my feelings also. The Rosanne show had some good chuckling moments, but the transgender young boy - and pushing to the audience that this was 'ok' - was a bit too much.
I get that we are all sinners, and we should love one another - but pushing that 'sin is ok' is a poor message to the audience.
They didn't push it, as do some shows - that sin is not only ok, but it is to be celebrated - but it was a bit much for me.
We are only here for a short time, and we will stumble, but we shouldn't be shoving obstacles in front of others to help them trip.
They killed Roseanne off via opioid overdose.
So it will end as a murder/suicide.
I give the show 3 episodes before the network calls it quits. No one is going to watch, heck look at Murphy Brown, does ANYONE even watch that show. I don’t even know what time it comes on but Ive noticed that every single episode is some kind of Trump bashing themed episode according to the Spectrum guide
Bret’s attempt at self-serving is pitiful. Sucks to be him.
Roseanne without Roseanne is like 24 without Jack Bauer. No thanks.
What happened to john Goodman? I think of the big lebowski and him now and they seem like 2 different people...
Sheldons family and friends?
“and I simply cant believe how disloyal the cast has been.”
Yep. She made them rich stars, and they threw her under the bus in a nanosecond. In Dante’s inferno the lowest level of hell is reserved for those who betray their benefactor. But that’s leftism for you, politics uber alles.
Oh look, he brought his sex toy, Mr.Hand.
10 large says Brett is wrong.
I need to win to get a new gaydar.
Mine broke
I agree! They wouldnt have had those jobs if not for Roseanne in the first place.
The producers are already questioning their decision to fire her. Ive heard this through multiple sources so they must realize they made a huge mistake. The hypocrites!
This will bomb out fast. I refuse to even give it a glimpse. No way! Hope they fail.

Thanks for throwing me under the bus, Dan.
It makes it unwatchable.
I had to double check that this isn’t sarcasm.
damn... the commie RAT bastard looks like shit, something terminal maybe?
“Not a single cast member stood by her. Fans remember that. “
The Left brought out the Racism tar brush. That would kill a career quicker than anything, and they new it. Not that any of them really had careers left anyway.
I think the Goebbels picture can be used for these kinds of “reviews” as well. :)
