We live in a rural area and the cable company jacks ups the internet rates by a factor of three if bubdled services are terminated. Our margins is only a twenty dollars difference once other service is added back.
Of course we have no competitor.
You might want to look around at alternative internet providers. I think they are referred to as WISP (wireless internet providers.) They might be able to cover hard to reach areas where no one else provides internet service. I have a friend who gets his signal from an antenna transmitter several miles away. He’s very happy. If you’re within 70 miles of a transmitter you should be able to get something with a good rooftop antenna.
