Glad it worked out okay. It may have been a set-up. They allowed Merkowsky to say she voted present.

However - I still would never vote for the guy. Yes, marriage is important. The wedding itself is frequently a vulgar display and not important at all. The wedding and the vows - that is what is important.

He could have voted and could have been there for the wedding.

Do you have a mister and a daughter? If you do, are you saying you would allow your mister to miss your daughter’s wedding so he could be on the other side of the county to cast a vote?

(The vote can be held open...if it had been necessary, he could have made it to DC to vote. The timing of the vote was at the earliest possible hour due to the timing rules).

Did you really mean to say the wedding itself is not important? You mean the part where the minister says, in front of God and the people who will help shepherd the couple through a marriage, the minister lays out the rules of the marriage? That part you don’t find important?

I must have totally misread your post, right?

(none of this has anything to do with whether I would vote for the guy, but what he did today would actually increase his stock with me.)

The vote was 50-48.

HOWEVER, if Murkowski had voted NO instead of abstaining, then Manchin would have also voted NO, making the vote potentially 49 yes, 50 no, forcing Daines to return for the vote making it 50-50, with Pence breaking the tie.

I think in the long run it was better to avoid having Kavanaugh the first Justice confirmed by a VP tie-breaker vote.

Nevertheless, on Judge Jeanine, POTUS referred to Murkowski’s postition as a “Disgrace” which will not be forgotten. He reminded Alaskans of what his administration had already meant to them ... with ANWR oil etc. He rightfully did not threaten to campaign against her in 2022 ... because he’s got to get re-elected first ... but it’s obvious Sarah will have a powerful friend if she runs.

Had he not had a guarantee that his vote was not absolutely necessary today i believe he would have done his duty to the nation.

On the other hand, Murkowski is going to try to convince Alaskan voters they should reelect her because she did not vote against K.

Sarah will ensure that doesn’t happen.

JMO, MAGA!

I have always thought God, family, country. He offered to be there Trump said no and the nasty Murkowski did a kind thing for a change. Weddings are planned months to a year ahead. Who would have thought crybaby Dems would have delayed confirmation so long.
