Do you have a mister and a daughter? If you do, are you saying you would allow your mister to miss your daughter’s wedding so he could be on the other side of the county to cast a vote?

(The vote can be held open...if it had been necessary, he could have made it to DC to vote. The timing of the vote was at the earliest possible hour due to the timing rules).

Did you really mean to say the wedding itself is not important? You mean the part where the minister says, in front of God and the people who will help shepherd the couple through a marriage, the minister lays out the rules of the marriage? That part you don’t find important?

I must have totally misread your post, right?

(none of this has anything to do with whether I would vote for the guy, but what he did today would actually increase his stock with me.)

I think it’s okay to disagree on this. Weddings are very important to many people.

I personally feel marriage is what is important, not the wedding ceremony, not the *white* wedding gown, not the parade of bridesmaids.

The one picture I saw of the wedding actually looked like a nice informal event, not the vulgar display of skin and costumes.

But others have different views. I don’t agree. Had I been the bride I would have arranged to have the ceremony postponed a few hours. But I’m not the bride, so she is the one who could have done that. (It is a bit strange that the daughter scheduled her wedding while congress was in session.)

Actually, I truly think the past two weeks have all been carefully choreographed. It may be they arranged this to allow Murkowski to cast a ‘present’ vote.
