I went to a Mormon funeral a while ago. It was....interesting, to say the least. And nowhere Jesus was mentioned.

That's interesting. When we toured Temple Square our tour guide must have said the phrase "preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ" at least 15 times. It sounded almost defensive, as if she was saying "Yes, we are too Christians". She also was quite robotic, very stepfordish. I kept asking questions to try and knock her off her script but couldn't.

BTW, it's a beautiful place, well worth visiting. Talk about sparing no expense!

My sister was LDS. When she passed away her husband had a memorial service in the LDS church community hall, mostly different people getting up and talking about her- that was fine and it was nice, but she was a very dedicated person to her faith and I was expecting more of a service. Nope. Then at the end it was announced the time of her- whatever they called it was going to be the next morning in the Temple. Then it dawned on me the memorial we went to was for people she worked with and others that were not LDS. They had what they considered to be her “real” service the next morning. Strange and hurtful feeling to feel left out of your sister’s funeral.
