The Cotton Mouth is also far less venomous than the Black Mamba.
Cotton Mouth’s venom is hemotoxic causing localized tissue destruction, whereas Mamba’s is neurotoxic, and is just going to shut it’s victim down altogether.
I always ponder whether some lunatic neighbor may be keeping these kind of wretched things as “pets”.

It's been 10+ years and I am still blown away by the story of the tiger in a California zoo who, after being taunted for hours by some teenagers, somehow managed to scale the wall, get out, track the kid down and kill him. Reports say the tiger had passed other zoo goers during his hunt for the teen.

They aren’t supposed to, but I have seen shows on Animal Planet that there are many who sneak awful snakes into the US. Some end up dead by their own snakes.
I read some story about a man finding an awful snake in his toilet a while back. Ever since that, (heh) I always turn the light on and look first.
I hate snakes.
