Clapping as been banned at a leading universty's students' union "to avoid triggering anxiety".
The University of Manchester Students' Union passed the resolution to ban clapping at student union events at the first Senate session of the academic year on September 27, according to student newspaper the Mancunion.
"It was argued that the loud noise of traditional clapping and whooping pose an issue to students with anxiety or sensory issues. BSL clapping or, jazz hands would be a more inclusive form of expression," the paper said.
Jazz hands is the British Sign Language for clapping.

I get big anxiety attacks when I see jazz-handing. They can’t allow that. They have to think of something else. This is NOT acceptable.
We spend a lot of time with this little girl who came to us at 9 months old. She's 16 months old now.
During that time, we have clapped for her when she did something good and she claps for herself now when she does something she likes.
She's an upbeat and happy little girl who enjoys being rewarded with a little clap when she does something positive.
This story about the university students banning clapping because it might trigger anxiety, is a prime example of what liberal teachings has done to kids.
Their mush for brains become even mushier under this PC language and safe-space environments.
Thank heavens that my wife and are not teaching these negative signals to our granddaughter. Clapping for her is the highlight of her days.
Poor little snowflakes they might wet their knickers or spill their cocoa if someone clapped
I wonder what the average age of the guys in this video is.
I wonder how many of them were triggered.
