Why in God’s name would 17 year old boys be hanging around with 15 year old girls. More than likely they had girl friends at the time. Kavanaugh mentions a couple girls on his calendar. They sure weren’t hunting 15 year olds.
An awful lot more likely than a 20-y-o college woman going to a high school party . . .

My mother and her friend set me and the friend’s daughter on a blind date. She was 14 and I had just turned 16. I was a junior at a military academy and she was a freshman at our hometown high school.
We dated for over two years and parted friends when I went away to college. Then I was almost 18 and she was 16.
